COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Meeting Minutes – January 15, 2014

CPC MEETING:  (began at 7:02 pm)
Members Present:  Laura FitzGerald-Kemmett, Bob Sears, Allan Clemons, Patty Norton, Joe Gamache and Kenny Mitchell
Absent:  John Kemmett, Bob Overholtzer and Bill Strait

Chair Report
Finances/Budget:
Laura to work with Todd in Town Accounting for a monthly/quarterly report which reflects the ongoing recordkeeping for CPC.
Miscellaneous:
  • CPC application - A draft form of the CPC application was distributed in tonight’s meeting.  Laura would like members to review it and have feedback for our next month’s meeting.  
  • Southeast Regional CPA Meeting will be held on 1/23/14 at 6:30pm at the Senior Center in Bridgewater.
  • Mass Historical seminar on grant writing and reimbursements will be at Mass Archives in Dorchester 1/22/14 at 2pm.
New Business:
Town Forrest/Outdoor Recreation Area
Surveyor was working on placing stakes on property and inspection will be within a few weeks.  Representatives of the Town will be present.  Still awaiting three quotes; should have this within the next few months.  Phil Clemons will contact the Town Administrator as to the cost, when finalized.
Stone Property
Accolades were expressed to Phil Clemons of the Open Space Committee.  As a result of Mr. Clemons’ due diligence, the town of Hanson has been able to acquire approximately 115 acres of land for $46,620 in CPA funds and a Massachusetts LAND grant in the amount of $82,880.  This piece of property is located just off of West Washington Street and is commonly referred to as the Stone Property.
Mr. Clemons was present at tonight’s meeting to go over the requirements (documents that need to be completed, parking area to be constructed, sign installed, photo taken and reimbursement of environmental assessment.

Thomas Mill Signs
Ongoing - John Kemmett will be contacting various printing companies for estimates.  Dialog on temporary as well as permanent signs for projects going further was discussed.
Bonney House Project
Allan Clemons is following up with the Voch Tech School on lead paint removal and costs.
A bill for $4K was submitted and approved for the contractor handling the beam work at Bonney House.

TAKE AWAYS (TO-DO):
  • CPC members to work on new draft of CPC application distributed by Laura in tonight’s meeting; also, think about the 2014 CPC Vision ideas and bring to next month’s meeting.
  • Kenny will meet with Parks and Fields to determine what priority projects the committee has for 2014, and get a copy of the P&F matrix.
  • John to contact printing companies to get cost estimates on temporary and permanent signs for projects that CPC is involved with for 2014.
  • Bob Sears to work with Housing and Patty and Allan to work with Historic on priority projects/goals for 2014.
